London Ontario Golf – celebrating a 7th season in 2011 - is a project which stems from Jeffrey Reed’s passion for golf. A life-long golfer, and one of Canada’s top golf journalists, Reed retired as a semi-professional baseball player with the London Majors of the Intercounty Baseball League in 2001. Searching for another competitive sport, he needed only to glance at his golf clubs to rediscover his passion for the grandest game of all. An avid golfer, low single-digit handicapper and part-time golf instructor, Reed is thrilled to be able to share his love of southwestern Ontario golf with visitors to the London Ontario Golf website.
Since 2005, Reed has written the official welcome to Ontario golf courses in, Golf Ontario Style - the official golf publication of Ontario Ministry of Tourism & Recreation. He wrote, “Clearly, Ontario loves golf. As one of more than 12 million Ontario residents, I am no different,” adding, “No matter where you visit in Ontario, there is sure to be a quality golf course ready to welcome you to its plush fairways and greens.”
An award-winning, nationally-recognized author, writer, editor, photographer, broadcast journalist public speaker and part-time teacher, Reed is most often recognized as one of Canada’s most knowledgeable sportswriters. Reed’s golf stories are published by magazines and newspapers including: SCOREGolf; Golf Canada (RCGA); Ontario Golf Magazine; National Post Golf; The Toronto Star; The Globe & Mail; The London Free Press; The Londoner; London CityLife Magazine; Business London Magazine; Urban Male Magazine; and Forever Young.
Reed is also a two-time author. His first book, EBBA 40 Years of Baseball (1994) chronicles the history of London baseball, in specific, four decades of the Eager Beaver Baseball Association. Reed’s second book, Building Distinction: 100 Years of Construction in London (1998) recognizes the 100th anniversary of the London & District Construction Association. Both books are bursting with a collection of Reed’s wonderful photographs.
In addition, Reed received a National Mature Media Award in both 2006 and 2007. His award-winning stories chronicled the intense rivalry between the Montreal Canadiens and the Toronto Maple Leafs during the 1950s and '60s, and Canadian curling legend, Russ Howard. They were’ judged amongst 2,200 entries from across North America. Also, Reed and London Ontario Golf were honoured in 2011 and '11 by the Golf Journalists Association of Canada, which named Reed Top Golf Website Feature Writer in Canada.
Public speaking is now a big part of Reed's daily activity. Recent engagements saw him address Thames Valley Children's Centre, and the Heart and Lung Association in London and Area. Reed also enjoys teaching part-time at London's Fanshawe College, and the University of Western Ontario.
Reed, and his wife, Elizabeth - London Ontario Golf's assistant editor - reside in London where they both have been known to enjoy fine wine, good food and great company after a round of golf.

"I had a lot of fun learning from Jeff, talking with Jeff and watching a real pro play. Thanks to Jeff, I have learned how to hit a golf ball straight, how to set myself perfectly for a swing and how even though you are suffering from some physical disadvantage, golf can still be your game." -
Richard Kennedy, Brain Tumour Survivor, London
"With his expert knowledge and an absolute love for the game, I would recommend Jeff to any level golfer looking to improve. He has a unique ability to teach ideas so that they are clear and logical, allowing you to take and repeat what you've learned outside the lesson. His passion for the game is contagious while his genuine nature and sense of humour make lessons so enjoyable. I've just recently found my love and talent for golf and owe a huge thanks to Jeff for helping uncover and encourage these things in me. I am working towards possibly competing in the future." -
